Global Mapping

As social work leaders, it is important to master various ways of communicating information. An Infographic is a visual way to illustrate information or data.
Using basic principles of design, one can utilize images and/or brief text to engage a broader audience or a targeted audience. The Client to Global Mapping
assignment will be an ongoing exercise throughout the course in which learners will be introduced to and hone skills in creating Infographics.
Learners are encouraged to share their final infographic via social media (i.e., Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.). If you chose to share your infographic via

What:
This exercise will be completed in small groups of 4-5 students that will be randomly assigned by your instructor. As a group, identify a topic of interest from
the Issues for Debate in Social Policy text and create an infographic related to the topic selected.
Infographic expectations:
Reflect on the topic selected, your practice as a social worker, the course materials, and/or current events related to the topic. Remember that the selected
topic should be specifically related to one of the sectors you have read about in Issues for Debate in Social Policy:
Why is this issue/topic important, why should people care?
What are the implications across the spectrum of practice (i.e., micro-mezzo-macro-meta)?
Where can your audience go to learn more about your topic and/or get involved (i.e., what’s the takeaway)?
Your target audience for the Infographic is the general public. The goal is to educate the public about the multi-layer effect of the topic/issue from the lens of
your practice. Group members may have different areas of practice, select one group member’s arena of practice for this assignment.
Each group will have a discussion board to collaborate, you may utilize this board or other methods, that is a group decision.
Final Infographics can be posted in this discussion board as a document or a URL link in Canvas. Please note on the post that it is the final version.
How:
Each group should only create one Infographic. Be creative, specific, and clear in illustrating the impact. And, have fun!
There are a variety of platforms, free and paid, that can be utilized to create Infographics. In consultation with our Center for the Enhancement of Learning
and Teaching, Piktochart was found to be the most user-friendly and free platform. However, students are free to choose other platforms. Below is a
