OzCare, a fictitious Australian company specialized in “aged care service and training” is considering to expand business to China or India. As a business analyst of an investment bank, you are asked to conduct a market research and comparative study on the two markets. Your research and analysis should be presented as a business report no longer than 2000 words.

Your report should include:

  1. The nature of the aged care service market in both countries – including relative sizes, potential growth, existing and potential competition in the market (e.g. sizes and numbers of competitors)
  2. The two country’s business environment, especially economic and political risks – e.g. rules for FDI, government policies and incentives, location, infrastructure, sources of inputs, intellectual property protection, exchange rate risk, and economic and social stability.
  3. The type of FDI to further minimise risks – e.g. consider joint ventures with a local private or state-owned enterprise.
  4. A set of clear advice and detailed recommendations for OzCare, linked explicitly to 1, 2 and 3 above.



  • This is a project on country risk analysis. Week 12 readings are useful, but you are also expected to undertake significant research.
  • Austrade Website and Annual World Investment Report published by the UNCTAD are useful sources of information.
  • The company is fictitious, so do not waste your time researching on
  • Feel free to define the industry more specifically for analysis purpose
  • You are free to discuss the project with other students but you must write up your project individually. Severe penalties (up to 20 points, i.e. 100% of the full mark of the assignment) will be imposed on plagiarism.

You will be assessed on:

  1. References and Reference list:
  • Is the project well referenced?
  • Is the citation system consistent?
  • Do all sources cited appear in the reference list?
  • Does the reference list contain all necessary details?
  • Penalties will be imposed on plagiarists (matching rate >20%)
  1. Presentation and Grammar:
  • Is the presentation of an appropriate standard?
  • Is it of the required length?
  • Are there numerous spelling, grammatical or punctuation mistakes?
  1. Evidence of research, and sophistication and originality of arguments:
  • Is there evidence of extensive research?
  • Are the arguments sophisticated and original? or
  • Are they mainly reproductions of arguments from existing literature?
  1. Clarity of the argument, strength of analysis, and ability to use and integrate sources:
  • Is the writing well structured and integrated?
  • Does the argument flow logically?
  • Are arguments supported by evidence?
  • Are there any sweeping generalisations or unexamined assumptions?

Format and word limit:

  1. The report should be TYPED (font size 12 pts, 1.5 spacing)
  2. The report should contain a title page, a content list, an executive summary (no more than 200 words), a body (clearly sectioned with headings and subheadings), and a reference list (in-text citations also required)
  3. The report should use Harvard or APA style
  4. The report should be NO LONGER than 2,000 words (excluding executive summary, tables and diagrams, references). Show WORD COUNT on the title page.


The report has to be submitted through Turnitin before the dealline.

Quick steps to submit your assessment

  1. Go to the course site and find Turnitin submission point in Assessment.
  2. Click the “Submit” tab at the top of your screen.
  3. Enter your assessment name in the box provided.
  4. Browse and upload your file.
    Note: Your submission must contain a minimum of 20 words. If you have scanned it as an image, Turnitin may not accept it as a valid submission.
  5. Tick the box to confirm you are submitting your own work.
  6. Click “Submit”.

A digital receipt will be sent to your student email.

Quick steps to view your marked assessment

  1. Go to your Turnitin assignment inbox in your course Learning@Griffith site and click the “My Submissions” tab at the top of your screen.
  2. Click the “Assignment Title” or “bubble icon” to open your marked paper in the Turnitin document view. Note that it will open in a new browser tab or window.
  3. In the Turnitin document view, click the “GradeMark” button at the top left of your screen.

You can now view comments/feedback on your marked assessment. Your mark is located on the top right hand corner of your screen.  Note: Your comments/feedback and mark will be available in the Turnitin document view if your course uses GradeMark and after the Post Date has passed.
